Our Crazy Family Chicago Vacation
Like so many other families that haven’t gone on a holiday for a couple years, watching our dollars because of the economy. My only nephew asked his girlfriend to wed him and that is’s all it took! We found out the day the wedding was going to be held, my husband and I both had paid vacation time coming from work so we made a decision to go to the wedding and make it a vacation as well. Before we knew it, it was time to get packed and load everything up and got moving.
This was no little trip. It is almost 1200 miles back to my home city in Illinois so there was a lot of time spent driving. Unfortunately not all of our issues were left back at home. After one or two hours of sitting the first day I had started feeling some lower abdominal pain. Being completely honest I believed it was a combination of nerves, excitement and maybe just sitting for too much time. However by the end of our first day the pain had become worse. When we finally stopped for the evening I attempted to relax and stretch out some, praying that it would get better, but there was no change. It became so bad I though we’d have to go to a nearest ER. I made the decision to try to get a good nights rest and make the choice in the morning. Before going to bed I called my mother to inform her how far we had made it and what was going on. I described the symptoms I was having and she told me she had the identical symptoms the time she was having issues with ovarian cysts. She told me about some of the different treatment of ovarian cysts and how this one natural remedy worked best for her. So I made the choice to go to the emergency room that night, just to confirm what was taking place.
I am certain every single one of you have experienced going to the emergency room at one point during your life or another. Well, the one we visited was exceptionally packed. Let me tell you, pain or no agony, waiting in a room full of sick and injured people was not a excellent surrounding. The mixture of all these factors really worked on my anxiety. As time passed with individuals coming in and out constantly, waiting to be called while experiencing a great deal of discomfort it was eventually enough and I started experiencing a panic attack. All I needed to do was leave there, discomfort or no pain. I must admit, if it was not for the help my husband had given me, in addition to the tools I learned about overcoming panic attacks I truly believe I would have walked out. Eight hours later I left feeling slightly better as far as the pain. The anxiety and panic had gotten better and the ultrasound confirmed I had a ovarian cyst. There was no cause for alarm though I was given a prescription for agony if needed, some guidelines on stuff to keep clear of and told to check in with my GP when we got back home.
We made it to Chicago and during the following couple of days the agony passed. I was still feeling a little anxiety, but it was most likely excitement about what exactly was happening. Actually one night we all got together and went out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants. This is the sort of food you simply cannot get in the south where we live, so we all did quite a bit over eating that evening. My husband went slightly more overboard then he should have. I could tell because he mentioned that he required one of his remedies for heartburn before we even even made it back to our room. We giggled at it, but the rest of the evening he was in discomfort due to his heartburn and acid reflux.
In looking back it definitely was a great time. The wedding was beautiful and went off without any issues. It had been a evening to recollect. Essentially the entire trip was one to recollect. Eventhough it started off a little rocky but the time was spent well surrounded by family and friends that we hadn’t visited with in several years. That most likely was one of the most enjoyable vacations the my family and I went on in a long time.
